Almand J. Barron - Attorney in Columbia, SCAlmand James Barron received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Cum Laude.

Ms. Barron received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1998. Ms. Barron is also a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Richland County Bar Association, Lexington County Bar Association and the South Carolina Women’s Law Association. She has served on the Children’s Committee, Professional Responsibility, Ethics Advisory and the Conventions Committee for the South Carolina Bar. Ms. Barron has presented at several Continuing Legal Education seminars in the area of Family Law.

Ms. Barron worked with well-known and respected attorney Harvey L. Golden from 1996 until 2006, first as a law clerk and later an associate before becoming partner at Golden, Taylor, Potterfield & Barron and later Harvey L. Golden, P.A. Following Mr. Golden’s retirement in 2006, she joined Moses, Koon & Brackett in an Of Counsel position before merging her practice with David C. Shea in 2012.

Ms. Barron focuses her practice solely in the area of Family Law and Domestic Relations and represents men, women and children in Family Court matters throughout South Carolina.

Ms. Barron is married and has one child. She is a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and the Junior League of Columbia.

David C. Shea

David C. Shea - Family Attorney Columbia, SCDavid C. Shea is a 1996 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law and 1992 graduate of the University of South Carolina. While in law school, he served as book editor for the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal, participated in the U.S. Department of Justice Summer Law Intern Program, and was a visiting student at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to law school, Mr. Shea served as an assistant editor for Bobbin magazine. He is a native of Hollywood, Florida.

Before opening his own practice in 2004, he was a partner in King & Shea (formerly King & Vernon), with the esteemed Kermit S. King. Prior to entering private practice in 1999, Mr. Shea gained extensive trial experience as an assistant public defender in Lexington County. A graduate of the National College of Criminal Defense, he has represented both adults and juveniles in all degrees of criminal charges. He concentrates his practice in domestic relations, in addition to maintaining a presence in the civil courts, including attorney malpractice.

He is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the South Carolina Bar, Richland County Bar, and the South Carolina Association for Justice. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a past chair of the Pro Bono committee and the Law Related Education committee of the South Carolina Bar, and has served on several other Bar committees, including as a two-time member of the editorial board of South Carolina Lawyer magazine. He served on the case writing team for the South Carolina High School Mock Trial competition for several years and has traveled to national competitions with other SC Bar representatives.

Mr. Shea is admitted to practice in all South Carolina state courts and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Shea has been certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a Family Court Mediator, and is often selected as a mediator by other family court attorneys.

Outside of the office, Mr. Shea enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his wife and children. He lives in the Shandon area and is a member of the Richland Sertoma Club.
